Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your information.

YOUR PRIVACY

―――

The short version.

We collect only what we need to respond to you and run this site. We never sell your information.

Who we are

Barbary Collective LLC (“Barbary,” “we,” “us”) is a boutique advisory firm based in New York, New York. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through barbarycollective.com (the “Site”).

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you use our contact form or email us, we collect what you choose to share, including your name, email address, message, and whether you choose to subscribe to our newsletter.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, the Site uses cookies and similar technologies to collect basic technical and usage data, such as browser type, device, pages visited, referring site, and approximate location derived from your IP address.

How we use it

We use your information to respond to your inquiry, schedule and hold discovery conversations, provide and improve our services, understand how visitors use the Site, keep the Site secure, and comply with legal obligations. We do not use your information for automated decision-making.

Email updates

If you opt in, we may occasionally send emails with insights, updates, and news about our work. We send marketing email only to people who have opted in, and contacting us through the Site does not by itself sign you up. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also opt out at any time by emailing us. We will still send messages related to an active inquiry or engagement.

How we share it

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with service providers that help us operate the Site and our business (for example, our website host, Wix.com, Google Analytics, and our email provider), under terms that restrict their use of it; when required by law; or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

Cookies and Google Analytics

The Site uses cookies necessary for it to function, along with Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, and how you arrived at the Site. We use this information in aggregate to understand traffic and improve the Site. Google processes this data under its own policies; learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.

Do Not Track signals

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is no common industry standard for how websites should respond to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. You can still limit tracking using the cookie controls and opt-out tool described above.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiry and client communications for as long as needed to respond to you and manage any resulting relationship, and afterward only as long as reasonably necessary for business, legal, or tax purposes. If you unsubscribe from marketing email, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we do not contact you again.

How we protect it

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the information we hold, consistent with New York’s SHIELD Act. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

Your choices and rights

You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law. To make a request, email us at the address below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Children

The Site is intended for business audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Links to other sites

The Site may link to third-party websites, such as LinkedIn. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policies.

Governing law

This policy and any dispute related to it are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page.
